Appointment to the Post of Assistant Professor in Law and Associate Professor in Law and Controller of Examinations

Applications are invited from eligible candidates possessing the prescribed qualifications for appointment to the posts of Associate Professor in Law ,Assistant  Professor in Law and Controller of Examinations in this University.  Interested eligible candidates may send their applications in the prescribed format furnishing the relevant details  to the Registrar, The National University for Advanced Legal Studies, NUALS Campus, Kalamassery, Kochi – 683 503, so as to reach him on or before 26-05-2018.

I. Associate Professor in Law  (One-SC-Kerala)

Qualifications

i. Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines.
ii. A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
iii. A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research institution/industry  excluding the period of Ph.D research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
iv. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students
v. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the UGC Regulation 2010.

Age:

Not more than 45 years, but relaxable in the case of persons who are already in service as teachers in a University recognized by the UGC or a college affiliated to such a University.

Scale of pay:

As per UGC Regulations.

II. Assistant  Professor in Law  (One-Open Competition)

Qualifications

i.Good academic record as defined by the concerned University with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master's Degree level in Law from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.
ii.Eligibility for relaxation in the minimum marks as above will be as per clause 4.4 1  of the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for appointment of Teachers and other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges 2010 and as   amended vide UGC Notification dated 04-05-2016.
iii.Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
iv.Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) to this Clause, candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/ SLET/ SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in University.
v.NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Master's Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.

Age:

Not more than 40 years as on the date of notification, but relaxable in the case of persons who are already in service. Age relaxation is available as per Rules for different categories.

Scale of pay:

As per UGC Regulations.

III. Controller of Examinations (One-Open Competition)

Qualifications

Qualification as prescribed by the UGC for the post of Professor, preferably for the professor in Law.

Age :

Not less than 36 years.

Scale of Pay:

Rs. 37,000-67,000+Rs.10000/- AGP in the UGC scale of pay

General Conditions:

1. The applications of those who are in service shall be forwarded through proper channel.
2. Applications (8 sets) should be submitted with true copies of all relevant certificates and documents in each set, including API based PBAS.
3. The University reserves the right not to select or appoint any person if the Selection Committee is of the opinion that none of the candidates is suitable for appointment.
4.No TA/DA shall be paid by the University for attending the Interview.

Registration Fee:

Fee of Rs. 1,500/- for the post of Assistant Professor and Rs.1000/- for Associate Professor should be remitted by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Registrar, the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, payable at Kochi. Registration fee once remitted shall not be refunded (For candidates belonging to SC/ST 50% of the fees  will have  to be remitted as  application fee  for the post of Assistant Professor and Controller of Examinations.)
